About Our School
Our School

Welcome to Eastern Primary School, a warm and thriving learning community in the heart of Broughty Ferry. Our school is a place where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and flourish in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Our ethos is built around four core values that guide everything we do:
-
Kindness – We value caring relationships, compassion, and respect. Our pupils learn that kindness strengthens friendships, builds confidence, and helps create a school where everyone feels safe and included.
-
Community – Eastern is proud to be at the centre of a vibrant local community. We work closely with families, partners, and the wider Broughty Ferry area to create opportunities that enrich learning and celebrate the diverse strengths of those around us.
-
Responsibility – We encourage our pupils to take pride in their actions, their learning, and their school. From classroom roles to caring for our environment, children learn the importance of being thoughtful, reliable, and ready to contribute.
-
Ambition – We believe every child can achieve great things. Through engaging teaching and high expectations, we inspire our learners to dream big, persevere through challenges, and develop the confidence to reach their goals.

At Eastern Primary School, we are committed to providing an education that is engaging, meaningful, and rooted in Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence. Our staff work collaboratively to create learning experiences that spark curiosity, build creativity, and help each child discover their unique strengths.

School Dinners
School meals are provided by Tayside Contracts catering. All pupils will have a set meal with a choice of main course. Menus are sent home at the start of each new menu so that parents can be informed of their child's choices. Children will either choose their lunch independently in class upon arrival at 9am or tell their teacher their choice during registration. A choice of pudding and drink is available alongside the main dinner option. If the school has been informed, children with dietary requirements will be given an alternative menu to comply with their dietary needs.
Primary 1 - 3 children are entitled to free school meals and therefore do not need to come to school with money.
Primary 4 - 7 children who do not receive school meals should pay the class teacher weekly/daily or parents can sign up to join ParentPay and pay the school online.
Children who have a packed lunch or school dinner are not allowed to leave the premises of the school for health and safety reasons.
School Uniform
At Eastern Primary and Nursery School, children are expected to attend school wearing appropriate school uniform. This can consist of:
- A shirt/polo shirt (white or red).
- Trousers (black or grey).
- Skirt or Dresses (black or grey).
- Cardigans or Jumpers (grey or red)
- Our school tie.
